Imported Blog: Black Super Models

Hey folks!

I have just imported some older blog content from a different blog I run called Black Super Models. Most of the posts date back to 2007 and the reason behind the blog was to draw attention to the SHORTAGE of black supermodels. Sure there is a few out there, but I wanted to draw attention to the fact that there is no shortage of African models out there worthy of being paid more for what they do.

Amongst the posts imported are collections of photos of:

Tyra Banks and Naomi Campbell (obvious choices because they're more well known)

Tyson Beckford (a male supermodel you will probably recognize)

Ajuma Nasenyana (much less well known, but no less worthy)

See my post on Black Supermodels being Left Behind.

I will add more to this post later, I am off to the beach now...

Stylish Fancy Dress

I suppose when it comes to those themed parties, you never seem to know what to do? Do you dress ridiculously and dread those party photos? - Or do you go for the stylish fancy dress option, still dress up but not over the top. Well if you're going to a 70s fancy dress or 80s fancy dress party these ideas are for you!

This Go-girl costume is quite a stylish 70's outfit. It'd look great with a headband or some black boots (or white) like in the photo! It's only £32 from Fancy Dress Ball.

Another great style idea is this Flower Power Costume - which is £23.99 from fancydressball!
As for 80's ideas...

I loved this dress as it's very stylish for fancy dress and perfect to make that big entrance at that party! This dress is £25.99 from Fancydressball.

Now this option is another great one. Twister! I suppose you might not like the hat, but I think it adds a quirky edge to the outfit, shows you've thought about what your wearing! This twister outfit is only £19.99 from Fancy Dress Ball.

What do you think of these outfits? Which is your favourite?

The Royal Wedding Street Party

Up and down the country today they are having street parties! Where I love there's enough people to have a street party at times like this, but I would love to know what it's like to have a massive one with 50+/hundreds of people!
A few of my neighbours helped organise this street party, and with all things British we were set to go!

Let the street party commence! It's still going on now, but had to show you all what was happening! and also what I'm wearing!

I went for Option 1 from one of my previous posts on what to wear to a Royal Street Party, I'm wearing a feathered blouse from ASOS, Chinos from - Desire Clothing, and wedges from So You Shoes!

But back to the big day. I cried twice whilst watching it, times like this make me feel proud to be British! Who else cried? What did you think of the big day?
Who's had a street party? Who's partying hard tonight?

Kate Middleton, A Fashion Icon? & the wedding dress!

It's Royal Wedding Day!
& The whole world is waiting to see what the Royal Wedding Dress is like, and we'll see in about a half hour! But Is Kate Middleton a new fashion icon?
There's been some speculation by the press whether she'll become a fashion icon as Princess Diana, R.I.P was known for her elegant and sophisticated style, but will Kate Middleton follow in her footsteps? Is she an icon by her own right or by her status?

What to wear: Royal Wedding Street Party

We'd all love to be invited to the ACTUAL Royal Wedding, but sadly we weren't one of the 1900 people who got invites through their doors. I'm not sure if it's just a British thing or is everyone else having street parties too? Well here in the UK you had to apply to your local council to be able to have a street party on Friday a while back, I figured aswell as myself there'll be lots of you attending one!
So i've put together a couple of outfits for ideas of what to wear, hope this helps!
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Trousers are big right now and I love this pair from Miso @ Republic for £26.99. These trousers would look amazing tucked into this Floral Knot Back Vest from Topshop and seems as your dancing the night away, who could forget the best heels to wear, WEDGES! from Linzi Shoes. So if you don't want to go too dressy to the street party, but sort of casual cool, trousers are a fab option!
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
This second outfit is under £50! (yaaaaay!) it's this gorgeous one shoulder dress from Miso @ Republic and yes more wedges, but these ones have a quilted wedge and are only £30 from Linzi Shoes. You can wear this outfit with bare legs (depending on the weather on friday) or black opaque tights!
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
This is a fab outfit, for any shape or size and it'll still look amazing. The maxi dress is back for summer 2011! So if you want a great option of what to wear and to buy something you will wear through-out the summer you can't go wrong with the range of maxi dresses from Desire Clothing and some gladiator sandals, or ruffled nude heels from Linzi Shoes!

Who's looking forward to the big day?!
